What program are you using to chat on IRC? With the mIRC program, nothing is sent to the channel until you press enter, so whatever you are typing is not seen by others until then.

confirmed. I had 2 customers today - same thing. Congrats Microsoft. Waiting for Zonealarm to fix it, or MS to fix it - whichever comes first.
I'm removing the zonealarm stuff and going to test out some other free firewall to advertise as a good product.
Any suggestions welcome.

<Oddjob^> OJ Tip: Due to problems of clones or spammers, we may need to lock the channel to +i and +r modes. (invite only and registered only) This situation is temporary, so if you can't join, just try again in a minute or two.

I have many clients here for whom I've applied this update. I haven't run into that problem, but my advice is to ask the software company through email or their public forum. Maybe others have seen the problem, you might try searching their forums first before you post there. Good Luck, let us know how it turns out

IRC / Undernet and #Cservice, Tips and Information / Re: Undernet Channel mode +D

There have been discussions about adding <insert service here> to X going on inthe undernet forums for years. Always it comes down to this: how much can you bog the service down before it crashes? That's why they've always balked (and rightly so) over adding bells and whistles. Basic ops with a few frills, and let each CM deal with the rest and manage their own channel to their hearts' desire.

My very first spyware laden computer job had Avast installed on it. That pretty much nailed it for me. I don't know if the person's subscription ran out or what, but he told me it was supposed to be free, and it didn't protect him (the guy is a personal friend and his word is above reproach) I've never had a reported problem from any of my clients running the --> AVG - ZoneAlarm - Spybot - AdAware - good common sense <-- combination.
For what it's worth...
