Hi all  Smiley
I saw many people on Undernet who has experienced problems with this mode, they set it unknowingly (or sometimes knowingly hehe) or some poorly configured bots set it and then these people panic as the server doesn't allow them to unset it. I saw many people coming to #beginner for help related to this issue. Here's a link to PapaJohn's post on this channel mode:

http://ircbeginner.com/smf/index.php?topic=90.0

Here's a quote from PapaJohn in that post:
Quote
A new channel mode, +D, has been added for auditorium-style channels.
These are channels where most users listen but do not speak or receive
ops or voice. The effect of +D is that the server waits to send the
JOIN message for new users until the user gets ops or voice or sends a
message to the channel. A list of join-delayed users in a channel may
be retrieved by using /NAMES -d #channel. The response to /NAMES -d
uses the same format as numeric 353, but uses numeric 355 instead. If
an op removes +D while there are still join-delayed users, the server
automatically sets mode +d, and removes +d when the last user's join
is shown. It is not possible to set channel mode +d manually; its
purpose is to warn channel users that there are "hidden" users in the
channel.

So, I thought I'd just add the ways as to how to unset this mode,so  here goes...
The main problem with this mode is that, if there are people idling in your channel (who have joined your channel after you set mode +d) then you simply can't just unset this mode until the user idling says something (which he/she will not until he/she comes back). Here's a nice simple way to unset it:
1. Type /names -d #channelname
2. Not down the nicks of the users who are currently invisible
3. Voice them (hehe simple as that) - /mode +vvvv nick1 nick2 nick3 nick4
Or
Op them (Don't do this if you're sane or if you trust the person you're oping)
Or
Kick them (This is an impolite way, so refrain from using this. If you really need to kick them then specify the reason for the kick)

So there, a simple easy way Tongue
Most people should have known this hehe but if you didn't....then now you know Wink
This was written for people who have (or had or will have Tongue) trouble with this mode (newbies probably...but some advanced users still don't know about this Wink )

OK, thanks for reading people and don't forget, any comments and suggestions are always welcome (even criticism...hmmmm...) Wink
See ya around in #beginner have fun take care and be good Smiley

EDIT: Some people tried to set this mode but the server replied that this is an unknown mode. This happens as this mode is case-sensitive (as far as I know). So to set this mode, type /mode #channel +D and not /mode #channel +d. Same goes for removing the mode.

Cheers Smiley

as a promised to reply  Roll Eyes

If a channel is set to +D users joining the channel wont be shown until something "happens to them". This means, a user joins the channel and remains "hidden" till he speaks, gets opped/voiced etc. Only at this point the join will be displayed. This mode is to prevent the disruption of channel discussions where lots of users are joining.

If the channel is set to -D again and there are still "hidden" users left, the server will set mode +d until the last one is visible or left the channel.

"Hidden" users are shown by /names -d #channel.

If you /whois a user who is in a channel with +D set and the user is not "visible" there yet, you'll see that channel prefixed by a < sign. i.e. <#delaychannel NOTE: mode +D isn't available on all servers yet, it will come with ircu2.10.12

to visit other channel modes : http://www.help.undernet.org/faq.php?what=channelmodes#02

although nuttins new in my post,my point is,i dont think the mode will apply in #beginner.in addition, the channel mode would particularly applied to advance MIRC user.

The mode happens to be case-sensitive that's why some people are not able to set it. Type: /mode #channel +D intead of /mode #channel +d and same goes for removing the mode.
I updated the post too  Smiley
